Moving abroad to study for a few years sometimes is big a deal for some people. What do I have to do? What do I have to prepare? What are the needed paperwork? What if I forget something important? All these questions just pop up all over our heads. So from my experience, I made check-lists for what I needed and I am gonna share it to you right here.

This is quite a long list and it might not fit your purpose, your style, or your needs. However, you can just skim through then pick and add whatever you need.

Below are what you needed to pack with you.

Paperwork

  • Passport

  • Local ID

  • Copy of itinerary (just in case the authorities ask)

  • Letter of Award

  • Letter of Admission

  • Language Certificate

  • Copy of the above importance document

  • Extra Passport Photos

Tip!

Take pictures of your important document just in case for losing it along the way.

Clothes

  • Sweaters

  • Jackets

  • Tee

  • Dresses

  • Jeans

  • Pants

  • Shorts

  • Leggings

  • Gym clothes

  • Pajamas

  • Panties and Bras

  • Others

Clothes should be prepared based on the weather of the country you are going.

Remember to bring only what is needed. For girls, I get it. Sometimes we overpack and ended up with not enough space but remember we can always buy more and we will definitely buy more.

Toiletries

  • Toiletries bag

  • Toothbrush

  • Toothpaste

  • Floss

  • Face skin care

  • Body wash

  • Shampoo

  • Comb

  • Sunscreen

  • Moisturizer

  • Perfume

  • Make up products

  • Period pads or Tampon

For toothpaste, body wash, shampoo should be in the small size only used for first few days when you don't know where to buy it yet. Toiletries should be packed in the checked luggage to avoid any problem in the airport. However, if you wish to pack them in carry-on luggage, all the liquid should be equal or less than 100ml.

Electronics

  • Phone

  • Phone charger

  • Laptop

  • Laptop charger

  • Power bank and its charger

  • Earphones

  • Travel adapter

  • Hair blow dryer

  • Hair straightener

  • Flash drive

  • Sim Card picking

Tip for couples!

Add an audio splitter into this list if you would like to listen to music or watch movie together with your loved one.

Travel adapter is very important to bring with. Different countries use different types of electrical outlet plugs.

Other

  • Cash

  • Credit or Debit cards

  • Pens

  • Note book

Note book and pen are handy for taking note of addresses, phone numbers, and emergency numbers.

All of these things should be put in carry-on luggage. Check the airport policy if you don't know what is allowed to take on the plane.

Have a nice journey abroad! Don't forget to enjoy life.
